PFC Eddie Casper Meadows was born 11 Mar 1925 in Macon County, Tennessee. He was the first born of 4 children of Claude D. and Stella (Donoho) Meadows. The family farmed. By 1940 Eddie was share cropping. The family did not report any income for 1939. Eddie had apparently never attended high school but had married Margie Bransford by 1943.

Eddie was drafted in June 1943. After training he was sent to the European theater. He was assigned to G Company 116th Infantry in time to participate in the D-Day landings at Omaha Beach on 6 Jun 1944. He fought with the unit until 30 Jun 1944 when he was wounded and sent to hospital but he was not there long. PVT Meadows returned to duty on 1 Jul 1944. Promoted to PFC on 24 Jul 1944, Eddie continued to fight with the unit until wounded a second time on 8 Aug 1944.  He was again evacuated to hospital but died of his wound(s) on 14 Aug 1944 (it should be noted that the morning report indicates that he died on 9 Aug 1944).

PFC Meadows was repatriated and re-interred in Roark Cemetery in Lafayette, Tennessee.
